Social Affairs Minister Yousuf Al-Othaimeen said on Tuesday that the Cabinet decision to hold special courses for new couples would reduce the rate of divorce cases in the Kingdom.
Speaking to reporters, he said the courses to be conducted by the ministry would also make the married lives of young Saudi men and women more successful.
“The course will help participants to look at marriage in a realistic manner and learn how to overcome their problems,” he said.
Al-Othaimeen said the course would be optional for newly married couples for three years but would be mandatory after that period.
The course will be conducted with the help of charitable organizations and community development centers.
