Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will inaugurate the King Faisal Medical City in Taif on Sunday.
The prince will open the medical city at the beginning of inspection tours to various governorates beginning on that day.
“During the tours the prince will also open the Taif Rose Festival, launch the Kingdom’s Health Cities Meet, and attend the convocation of the Taif university. He will also open a Center for Business Leadership in Taif, and discuss with local councils the reasons for delay in the completion of some projects and also view the major achievements in the governorate,” spokesman of the Makkah Governor’s Office Sultan Al-Dossari said in a statement quoted by the Saudi Press Agency yesterday.
The prince used to make annual inspection tours over the past five years and listen to and approve demands of the people and inspect developmental projects besides attending municipal and local councils in those governorates.
“After starting from Taif, the prince’s tour will continue to the governorates of Turba, Maysan, Renya, Khurma and Al-Mowaih,” Al-Dossari said.
During his past tours, the prince approved people’s demand for more educational facilities and establishment of branches of university campuses in some governorates. The visits covered projects of new schools, roads, municipalities, water and health. They also included 28 Taif university projects in addition to new electricity and health projects, 10 roads, municipal services, water and agricultural services in some governorates. It also included the supply of desalinated water to Renya governorate, which is 600 km away from the Red Sea. The prince also visited the construction of a hospital in Renya in the past, the spokesman said.
The prince wanted heads of various government departments and utilities to accompany him during his visits to governorates.
“He will listen to citizens’ demands and issue appropriate orders immediately,” the spokesman said.
The prince’s itinerary on Monday includes a visit to Maysan, meeting with tribal chiefs, dignitaries, department heads and also a visit to Renya and launching of a number of projects.
During his visit to the governorates of Renya and Khorma, the prince will chair meetings of local councils and laying of foundation stones and launching of a number of developmental and utility projects. The prince will also view the achievements in those regions over the past year. The tour will be concluded with a visit to the Al-Mowaih governorate.
As part of the province’s strategic plan ‘to build men and develop places,’ the prince upgraded the Turba, Khorma, Renya and Kholais as ‘A’ grade governorates and upgraded some ‘C’ grade governorates to ‘B’ grade, Al-Dossari said.
