JRTC, Aziziah TC, Binladen score

JRTC had to dig deep into its arsenal before finally posting a come-from-behind win via points 2-2 (26-24) against a stubborn DPWorld in their category B1 encounter while newcomer Aziziah Tennis Club capitalized on defaults by opponent JRTC to coast to victory in category LMX as more exciting games in marked second week action in the 25th Astec Team Tennis Tournament at the tennis courts of Hotel Al-Bilad in Jeddah Corniche.
ABTC-Binladen had a field day in its category C match as it waylaid another JRTC team 3-1.
Jeddah Ranao Tennis Club rallied from two sets down to beat DPWorld. Unsuccessful in the first two sets with Barra and Danny Natangcop losing 6-8 to Jotham Matin-ao and Jimmy Sabarillo in the first set then Daud and Alimbsar Umpa succumbing to Dennis and Gerry Alcantara at 4-8 in the second set, JRTC found itself in a deep hole. Undaunted, Ahmed Sholeh then started to turn things around as he played a wonderful third set singles to close an 8-2 win against Ricky Mediavillo. Bouyed by the win, Tungco and Maarouf Pantaran beat the lights out on Rhill Macapagal and Allan Bergosa 8-6 in the fourth set to tie the match at 2-2 and win the match on points 26-24.
Newcomer Aziziah Tennis Club felt what it was like playing in the Astec arena when it had a very good stroke of luck to win the initial assignment with a 2-2 win via points (23-16) against JRTC in the category LMX.
Losing successive sets with Mudassar Nazeer and Abdul Hassan scoring 2-8 against Jimmy Usman and Rash Mapunod of JRTC in the first set followed by Amer Alghamdi and Abdul Rahman Taher’s 5-8 lost against Hakeem and Podin Dianalan in the second set, everything looked bleak for Aziziah TC. But a sudden change of fortunes turned the tables for Aziziah as the third set pair of JRTC in Joe and Mohd Noor Hadji Halil could not suit up to play to give Rezayath Mohammad and Ibrahim Akeel the 8-0 win. Then JRTC’s fourth pair of Kim and Ahmad Sani did not show up to give another 8-0 win for Awais and Sharafath Ali to tie the match at 2-2 and give the victory to Aziziah Tennis Club.
ABTC-Binladen took three sets at once against ANTA-JRTC with Rogelio Reyes and Ronald Versoza winning 8-5 against Farouk Salacop and Osop Patara in the first set then Joel Garcia and Podin Dianalan scoring an 8-4 against Raldi Sultan and Nick Katigbak in the second set, then Reygil Millabangio took an 8-4 in the third set singles over Alex Modi to coast to victory in their match. Playing for points in the fourth set, Florido Bayal and Frederick Pamplona lost 5-8 to ANTA’s Michael Pangandam and Ali Lagrado to bring the final score to 3-1 and the victory to ABTC-Binladen.
