Najm blames traffic snarls for late response

Ibrahim Abu Shararah, vice president for area operations at Najm Insurance, said that his company is trying to find ways to cut down on response time to car accidents, admitting that the current delays are inexcusable.
The reason it takes so long for the company to respond, he said, is traffic jams which are more frequent and more congested as a result of urban expansion and the increasing number of vehicles on Saudi roads.
“In order to arrive promptly at the road accident site, we need more human resources and more vehicles so that we can shorten response time,” he said.
“Response time in Dammam is around 25 minutes, compared to 45 minutes in Riyadh, because of overcrowding,” he added.
Najm, a contractor for the police, handles investigative operations of road accidents that involve no injuries or fatalities.
“We’ve come across some cases of attempts by citizens and motorists to give inaccurate information, but not on a large scale. We also handle cases of car theft. These matters are taken seriously by all insurance companies and security agencies,” he said.
