State Minister and Member of the Council of Ministers Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, who is also chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival, will open the heritage village of the Najran Province on the festival grounds today.
“The Najran Village project that adds to the grandeur of the festival sprawls over an area of 10,000 sq meters housing various items including the architectural styles of the province, souks for handicrafts, stalls of the Najran University and areas where traditional cuisines of the province will be displayed. Folk arts of the area will also be presented,” Najran Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah said in a statement yesterday.
Head of the Najran delegation at the festival Ibrahim Al-Sadran, who is also director of public relations, said the pavilion would display various heritage activities, archaeological discoveries about ancient civilizations, and traditional arts and industries. It will also showcase weapons of the past and dressing style of women in addition to the agricultural implements used in the region centuries ago.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Press Agency reported that the cultural events to be staged today include a seminar on the Islamic political movements. Muhammad Helwas will be the moderator at the function in which Saeed Hareb, Diya Reshwan, Abdul Hameed Al-Ansari, Abdullah Al-Braidi and Abdul Raheem Ali will talk in the seminar. Its venue is at the Riyadh Marriot Hotel.
The evening session of the seminar will be steered by Abdul Aziz Al-Towaijri, while speakers in the event will be Ali Al-Samman, Abdul Rahman Al-Zenaidi, Saaduddin Ibrahim and Rashid Al-Khoyun.
