RJ Transient Houses handed runaway league leader Cool Guys an 18-2 thrashing in a stunning reversal that ended the RJ’s search for Team of the Week honors during the penultimate round of eliminations in the Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club (OFBC) 4 + 1 Friday Afternoon League First Season at IN-10-SO lanes in Serafi Megamall here.
RJ finished the session tied on 28 total points with Fed & AAA but won the team award via the total pinfalls tiebreak, carding 2,391 to the 2,273 that Fed posted in a 20-0 shutout of Lance & 3rdy.
The Youngsters of Jerry “Ka Imo” Carredo won by default over Yanbu Bowlers 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2,067 and rank points of 6 for total points of 25. Also on 25 points was Makatifoods Pinbusters who crushed Current Bowlers 18-2 on total pinfalls of 2,269-2,197 and rank points of 7-6.
PCG-Jeddah was an easy 19-1 winner over shorthanded The Transferee on total pinfalls of 2,041-1,881 and rank points of 4-2 for total points of 23-3.
The men’s and ladies Bowler of the Week awards went to Cool Guys team captain Jun De Dios and Fedelyn Bustinera of Fed & AAA after both returned their division’s high series of 693 and 621. It was the sixth individual award for De Dios.
Despite the defeat Cool Guys are a cinch for the top berth for the three outright qualifiers in the five-team stepladder finals with a twice-to-beat edge.
Fed & AAA is also certain to finish No. 2 and RJ No. 3 although Makatifoods still has a chance mathematically with only 9.5 points separating RJ and Makatifoods going into the final week of eliminations.
The win over Cool Guys was a big confidence boost for RJ thanks mainly to the duo of Malou Nidoy and skipper Rudy Jamon who shot 612 and 610 respectively.
Ric Tibayan on 583 was the other player to complete three games at RJ with Joel Nidoy on 163-218 and Lourdes Punzalan on 168.
Khalid Bustinera and Ed Cordova fired 564 and 554 in support of Fed & AAA. Minda Guevarra added 156-150 and Rudy Valenzuela 172.

Makatifoods used a single set of four players led by Benj Espinosa on 657. Carling Constantino tallied 616, Archie Alcantara 528 and Lester Atienza 467.
