I have had many opportunities to travel on Jeddah-Makkah, Makkah-Madinah and Riyadh-Bahrain motorways. Undoubtedly, these motorways are of international standards but one is surprised to observe that the rest areas are not at all of international quality.
Facilities like fuel stations, restaurants, parking areas, toilets etc, in some Western countries are excellent. But here in the Kingdom these facilities are not up to the required standard.
Even in Pakistan, modern facilities are provided on Lahore-Islamabad and Islamabad-Peshawar motorways. — Khalid Rashid, Riyadh
