Mubarakmand at PISJ-ES: Unity is key to success

Samar Mubarakmand, one of the top Pakistani nuclear scientists and a renowned nuclear physicist, visited the Pakistan International School-Jeddah (English Section) on Sunday.
“Our generation has brought Pakistan from the level of bare minimal survival to the only nuclear power in the Muslim world,” said Mubarakmand in his address.
The power of education is the power of science, he told students. “The Pakistani brains unfolded the power of science through education. Through unity we Pakistanis can achieve anything. We have to see what we believe in. The reason that Pakistan has reached up to this level is because of the belief of the citizens in the future of Pakistan and in the building up of their nation.”
He appealed to the PISJ-ES students, the future generation of Pakistan, to acquire knowledge. They should not solely focus on attaining higher grades, he said.
Whatever they study, they should understand the concepts behind the subject so that tomorrow they can practically apply the knowledge, the scientist said.
“You are the real strength of nation and we can never get disgruntled or bleak … with you we have a bright future of Pakistan,” he said.
Mubarakmand is known for his research in gamma spectroscopy and experimental development of the linear accelerator.
One of his recent landmark achievements is the establishment of centers of excellence in the fields of computational science and medicine, control and instrumentation, fluid dynamics and engineering design, hydro technologies, wireless communication and electronics and composite materials.
Sehar Kamran, school principal and senator, said Mubarakmand’s visit to her school was a source of “immense pride for us and great encouragement for my students, who look at him as a role model, as their mentor.”
“PISJ stands as a strong icon of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia. It is recognized as one of the leading educational institutions in the Middle East. We are also striving to make our students ideal citizens and architects, who will shape the future of Pakistan,” Kamran said.
Other guests included Hani Mansoor Arif, director general, Advance Special Aviation Service (ASAS), and Aleem Khan.
