Pakistani and Indian expatriates had a night of fun, laughter and joy as famous Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui along with Wali Sheikh entertained them no end on Thursday night.
Siddiqui and Sheikh, stand-up stage comedians and television artists, sent the audience of nearly 500 people into peals of laughter.
Mohammad Al-Mohammadi, founder of Desi Entertainers, and Shariq Mani, chairman of XM pro team, said they organized the event to convey the message that “though we are different communities we are friends forever and have many interests in common.”
“Laughter is an excellent medicine for stress and people need it in today’s times of stress and strain, as also love and friendship between communities,” they said.
Siddiqui made fun of women’s long lives. “They never die before men, they are the ones who create tension but are not the ones to be bothered about it,” he said. He delivered his dialogue without any ill-feeling in such a humorous way that the audience couldn’t stop laughing.
His visit to Jeddah was for the first time. But this is second to the Kingdom. Both the comedians said they love Pakistani and Indian audiences and whenever they are amid the two communities they feel at home.
Siddiqui told Arab news that the most memorable moments of his career are related to his play “Bakra Qiston Pay” and “Comedy Circus,” an Indian reality show.
He said Pakistani directors wrongly think that comedians can only perform comedy. Sheikh said the memorable moment of his life was the 15 years that he spent with the late Sikander Sanam.
