The winners of the eighth Prince Naif contest for the memorization of Hadith were honored here recently by Prince Faisal bin Salman, Governor of Madinah.
Prince Faisal said the contest was a manifestation of its founder's vision.
"The late Prince Naif's awards convey this vision to all Muslims around the world," he said.
He said Prince Naif was dedicated to serving Muslims in all aspects of life and wanted to present the true image of Islam.
He said that the government of Saudi Arabia would continue to support the awards under the supervision of Prince Saud bin Naif, head of the contest's supreme commission. He said the awards would always encourage and honor Hadith scholars and researchers.
Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal praised the Kingdom's leaders for focusing consistently on the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, since the founding of the country.
In a statement on the eve of the awards ceremony, Prince Khaled said the establishment of the King Fahd Holy Qur’an Printing Complex and the support given to Holy Qur'an memorization charities, were examples of the government's support. He said the late Prince Naif started the contest because he realized the importance of the Holy Qur'an and Hadith for the development of young people.
