Under the patronage of Prince Sultan bin Bandar Al-Faisal, president of Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF), the finale brought down the curtain on another exciting season of Red Bull Car Park Drift, the annual event that gives new meaning to drifting through the concept of safe driving.
In second place was Saeed Al Mouri in a Chevrolet Lumina with Abdullah Al Youssef in a Nissan 350Z claiming 3rd place. As the top two winners Amir and Saeed qualified to race for the Middle East Grand Finale in UAE later this year.
The jury of Red Bull Car Park Drift grand finale included of Red Bull athlete Prince Abdulaziz Turki Al-Faisal, Mamdouh Khayyat and Abdullah Bakhashab, the two legendary international Saudi rally champions; Red Bull athlete Abdo Feghali, and Red Bull athlete Mad Mike, the international drifter from New Zealand. The judging process was based on the art of drift as a major criterion, i.e. turning techniques with hand brakes and special skills; in addition to engine roaring and tire smoke, audience acclaim, and car appearance.
” The excitement and suspense hit unprecedented levels in the history of the competition”, said Ibrahim Al Bloushy, national communications manager for Red Bull in Saudi Arabia. “We are thrilled to have offered motorsport fans a competition that gave drifting a totally new meaning”. Al Bloushy thanked Saudi Arabian Motor Federation for their support.
