Madinah police has persuaded residents of the Al-Akool neighborhood, east of Madinah, to reopen the Madinah-Qasim Road. The residents had closed it after an accident.
Brig. Fahad Al-Ghannam, spokesman of the police department, said the collision of two cars resulted in the death of one person and the injury of others. As a result, the residents of the area gathered at the site to complain about the many accidents on that highway and closed it with bricks and blockades.
“They demanded an expansion of the road as the solution to the problem that causes the loss of many lives and properties,” he said.
Al-Ghannam said residents’ complaints included poor planning of the road, the absence of traffic and safety signs and the large number of turns on the road.
