Indians in Riyadh and Jeddah will waive fees for emergency certificates issued during the grace period to Indian expats bound for home from the Kingdom.
Deputy chief of the Indian Embassy Sibi George told Arab News that the Indian government announced its decision to exempt Indians living in Saudi Arabia and having no travel documents from paying fees for emergency certificates for one-time travel to India.
The waiver is applicable only for those EC applications made during the grace period announced by the Saudi authorities. Applicants who want the waiver must submit an additional application indicating their wish to avail the scheme.
The missions has received more than 62,000 applications for emergency certificates. It has received a list of 2,528 emergency certificate applicants whose passports are available with the embassy.
Applicants can visit the embassy at the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh from 6 to 9 p.m. until May 22, except on Friday. A copy of the passport must be brought along to collect the passport. Passports will be returned only to the holders in person and not to any representative.
