Chevrolet introduced the 2014 Impala, its full-size flagship sedan, to the Middle East, at a special media event at The Farm, Al Barari, in Dubai, on May 20 and 21.
Media from the region were given the opportunity to test drive the 2014 Impala on the public roads of Dubai. The impressive car, which boasts a head-turning design, a spacious refined interior and advanced technologies, will be available in showrooms across the region in June.
The event, hosted by John Stadwick, president and MD of General Motors Middle East, was also attended by Matthew Noone, director of exterior design for General Motors South America, and Next Generation MyLink Engineering Manager for General Motors North America Jeffrey Massimilla.
Introducing new levels of comfort and technology, the 2014 Impala features 10 standard air bags as well as a host of available safety technologies such as forward collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, rear camera and rear-park
The 2014 Chevrolet Impala represents the 10th generation of one of the industry’s most enduring and popular nameplates. It has been America’s best-selling full-size sedan since 2004, with total sales of more than 169,000 in 2012.
"Chevrolet has historically dominated the full-size sedan segment. I am confident with the new Impala, we will recapture the number one spot," said Stadwick.
"The 2014 Impala will not only further strengthen Chevrolet’s reputation in the region but also set a new benchmark for efficiency, refinement, infotainment and driving confidence," added Stadwick.
The 2014 Impala’s V6 engine will be the most powerful naturally aspired engine in the segment.
The car also receives a responsive electric power steering system and enhanced suspension that provides customers with a confident driving experience.
The 2014 Impala is powered by a 3.6L with Variable Valve Timing featuring fuel-saving direct injection and lightweight components. Matched with six speed automatic transmissions, it is rated at 305 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque, with excellent fuel economy of 8.1 L/100km (highway).
Inside, the vehicle offers ultimate comfort in a quiet environment with spacious front and rear legroom, generous storage and smart phone-influenced connectivity with MyLink, Chevrolet’s new infotainment system.
MyLink on the Impala is designed to accommodate new features and enhancements and be highly customizable. The system can store up to 60 favorites, including radio stations (AM/FM), contacts, destinations, music and other media. This feature is convenient for those who travel to the same destination regularly and want to save locations such as hotels and restaurants.
The 2014 Impala is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models. In the United Arab Emirates, prices start at AED 105,000 for the LS and AED 129,000 for the LTZ model.
