The long-awaited and complex Tahlia tunnel in Jeddah opened Sunday night. The tunnel’s construction dragged on for more than four years.
Few motorists were using the tunnel late Sunday. The intersection overpass links Prince Majed (Sabaeen) and Prince Mohammed (Tahlia) streets at nearby Al-Baik and Panda Supermarket.
Only one side allowed in the direction from Madinah Road onto Tahlia toward Harmain Expressway is opened for traffic. In the opposite direction from Harmain Expressway toward Madinah Road is not yet opened as construction.
The SR 104 million tunnel was delayed numerous times in last four years.
