The National Anti-Corruption Commission said yesterday that it has presented a report to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on corruption in ministries and government departments.
Osama Al-Rabeeah, vice president of the commission, said that his organization is working on an automatic system to register calls related to corrupt practices.
“This system will give a correct picture of corruption,” he said, adding that its results would be made public. “It is difficult now to give the volume of corruption in the country until we have such a system,” he added.
Al-Rabeeah’s statement follows a report on the swindling of more than SR150 million by Riyadh Education Department officials. The Education Ministry has reportedly launched an investigation into the scandal.
“If the investigation panel appointed by the education minister did not reach any satisfactory result, we’ll take up the matter with higher authorities,” said an adviser at the ministry’s administrative and financial department.
He said he has been following up the case for the last two years. “I am waiting for the investigation report to determine what steps should be taken next,” he said, adding that he had got clear evidence of the misuse of public money.
