Sadafco and Hidada in the Inter-Company Bonafide Division and Combibo Catering I in the Inter-Company Reinforced Division qualified for the semifinals with victories at the weekend in the Perfetto Basketball Tournament 2013 organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawa Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
Sadafco looked fluent in a 61-47 thrashing of SMC Interiors, playing good team work, sharing the ball out and making the extra passes for baskets from the open men.
Noel Lalog won the best player honors but a sizzling second half display by Marc Amador, Aser Malinao and Gan brought Sadafco to the big win and into the semifinal round.
The first half was intense and very exciting as only two points separated both teams but going into the third and all the way down to the final period it was all Sadafco.
Amador scored 7 points all in the third quarter while Lalog and Malinao combined for nine points to spark the Sadafco breakaway. Malinao and Gan then shot 14 points between as Sadafco finished the game pulling away.
Combibo I went to Leo Dela Cruz as it came from behind to beat Samahang Ilokano 86-67.
Samahang Ilokano led for three quarters yet bowed to Dela Cruz who scored 23 points and won the best player award for Combibo I.
In another Inter-Company Bonafide game, Noy “Jordan” Lofamia defied Father Time to score career-high 43 points in leading Bakemate to an 86-67 triumph over Al-Tayar.
Despite advancing years ISA Commissioner Lofamia showed he still got the legs to last a game and earned best player honors.
Best player Laguyo top-scored with 21 points, Miñoza added 20 and Khaled 19 as Hidada hammered out an 84-64 victory over Almutlak for a spot in the semifinals.
ISA Independence Day exhibition games
Meantime, ISA under the leadership of President Eric Abrantes joins the 115th Philippine Independence Day celebrations with a three-game exhibition today for basketball fans in the Industrial City.
To cap the games at 10 p.m. is the high profile matchup between Shadow Lounge and Jeddah All Star made up of players from its archrival Samco and Friendster.
The match gives Shadow Lounge coach Gary Santos a chance to avenge his three successive defeats to Samco dating to the Open Rated finals of the 33rd FBA season albeit with a slight twist as Samco will be a reinforced team.
Team captain and star point guard Robby David will lead a Shadow Lounge side against Boyet Bautista-led All Star. In addition to the crafty guard Bautista, who played for Purefoods in the PBA, the other Samco standouts going up against David and Co. are Raymond Matias, Joseph Ubalde, Mark Elamparo, Brian Adaya and Kiel Yutuc. Joining them are Mark Basa and Christian Guimpatan among other Friendster players.
