Stickhouse: The new health savvy gelato

As society looks for healthier alternatives to the usual heavy food choices, one very important childhood favorite is now spreading its healthy flavorful brand around the city. Stickhouse is one of the newest 100 percent all-natural ingredient pleasures. Summer is just around the corner and what better way to stay in shape and still indulge the senses with some fresh guilt-free gelato on a stick.
The innovative concept was brought from Italy in early 2011, using 100% natural ingredients selected from the season’s freshest fruits and with additional chocolate flavors imported from Italy. The difference between ordinary gelato and Stickhouse is that the former is served in scoops and then presented in a cup or cone, while this one is served on a stick, ready to be immediately devoured.
With over 20 different flavors, it’s hard to choose just one flavor, which is why customers always come back for more, without worrying about added colors, preservatives or sugar intake. The staff are all trained to handle the Italian hand crafted gelato on the stick and follow detailed instructions provided by the company.
In every Stickhouse store, a kitchen looking mini factory is on hand in order to create the gelato on an everyday basis. The ingredients are selected from across the Kingdom's fruit produce and all the flavors are mixed on hand daily. Each flavor on display has its own machine, not more than an hour before opening hours, in order to maintain the distinct taste. Fruits are the dominating flavors available and the milk-based flavors are also mixed on hand, with choices such as chocolate, coffee, mocha and Nutella.
The concept behind the “gelato on a stick” evolution started in Italy and then spread worldwide as the idea grabbed investors by storm. The process of creating the gelato using machines has still remained faithful to the traditional Italian way of making gelato, maintaining the true and original flavor of the delicacy.
There are currently seven locations for Stickhouse available in Jeddah with two more stores recently opening in Corniche and Obhor areas as well. In addition to the fresh flavors, customers are able to choose from three different dips; dark chocolate, white chocolate and chocolate mixed with almonds. There are also decorative toppings at hand for children, such as multi-colored sprinkles, crushed almonds, shredded coconut and crushed pistachios too.
The highest grossing flavors are mostly fruit based and according to staff members, the watermelon, the lemon-mint, pomegranate and chocolate are the top sellers almost all year around. There are five types of gelato sticks available, the regular gelato made with fresh cream and milk; the sorbet, which is made by different types of fruit; the “Golo Stick”, covered with any type of chocolate then covered by a topping of the customer’s choice; as well as the “Fillo” which is basically either sorbet gelato or regular gelato with a creamy filling such as cheesecake for example; and last but not least the “Sandwich Ice Cream” which is a divine chocolate covered sponge cake, half covered chocolate dipping sauce and topping.
