Hidada keeps alive hopes for semifinal berth

Hidada boosted its hopes for a semifinal berth in the Inter-Company Bonafide Evening Division after a split of its games at the weekend in the OFBL (Overseas Filipino Basketball League) 3rd Conference basketball tournament at Timeout Sports Academy Gymnasium on Television Street Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.
Hidada dropped an 88-83 decision against Rabya on Thursday but came back strong the following day to beat Akilam 77-67.
The mixed result gave Hidada a 4-2 win-loss record in the division where Bupa Arabia and Zazoog looked to have put a lock on on the first two semifinal spots.
Hidada is half a game ahead of Rabya and Akilam, which are tied on 4-3. The three teams all have a chance for the remaining with Hidada freed up of complications if it beats Bupa today. All ties are to be broken via the points system, according to Commissioner Rocky Gil.
Fresh from vacation Eleuterio scored 23 points to lead Rabya against Hidada. Pino and De Guzman added 17 and 13 points for Rabya.
In the game against Akilam Hidada got the goods delivered by Miñoza and Laguyo who scored 31 and 22 points.
Meantime, the Friday Morning Games Division entered the homestretch of eliminations in both the Strong and Weak divisions.
Guaranteed to make the semifinal in the Strong Division are Okaz 5-0, Toyota 4-0, Solid North 4-2 and Firewind 3-1.
Another Toyota team is likely to make the Weak Division final four, second behind Nesma (6-1) at 5-1, while Dabarkads and Yummy-yummy are tied at 4-3.
