Ministry requires permits for scholars to lecture at schools

The Ministry of Education has ensured that scholars who are not members of the Board of Senior Ulema (those involved in the promotion of Islam) and others would need a formal permit to deliver lectures in schools and seasonal pupil-club activities.
Abullatif Al-Suraie, director of the seasonal clubs supervision office, said ministry regulations only allow senior scholars and education officials to deliver lectures and symposiums with permits and that others would have to approach da’wa and guidance offices first.
The ministry is coordinating with these offices to allow scholars to speak at seasonal clubs that form part of the ministry’s programs aimed at helping students make use of their free time during the summer season.
He said the social, physical, cultural and training programs and activities at these clubs affirm religious and patriotic values and protect pupils from non-conducive thoughts, discover their talents, build their personalities and develop their skills, calling on parents to have their children registered. “The clubs are open for everybody and they are directly supervised and followed up on by higher education authorities.”
He said outstanding education supervisors and teachers are exerting efforts in planning and supervising activities at these summer clubs, which are spread all over the country.
There are 86 clubs in Riyadh and the ministry expects 50,000 pupils to register.
