Cabinet: Ramadan will strengthen Muslim unity

The Council of Ministers yesterday congratulated Muslims all over the world on the advent of Ramadan and expressed the hope that the holy month would strengthen Muslim unity and promote the values of love, compassion and mercy.
Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, chaired the meeting, which reviewed the latest regional and global developments, including the latest events in Egypt and Syria.
The Cabinet denounced the continuing attack on citizens by the illegitimate Syrian regime. It appealed to the international community to shoulder its responsibility to stop the genocide and ensure delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Syrian victims.
The Cabinet lamented the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt a statement calling for the entry of humanitarian aid to the besieged city of Homs.
The Cabinet welcomed the election of Ahmad Assi Jarba as the new president of the coalition of Syrian opposition forces.
The Cabinet expressed its deep appreciation of Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Larayedh’s visit to the Kingdom and the country's keenness to bolster bilateral cooperation in all fields.
On domestic affairs, the crown prince was reassured about preparations undertaken by various private and government bodies to provide the best services to the guests of God, who come for Umrah during Ramadan.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a center for seeds at the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure quality of seeds.
The Cabinet authorized the head of Youth Welfare Presidency to discuss a draft accord with the Ministry of Sports and Tourism in Belarus in the field of sports. It also authorized the minister of Islamic affairs to discuss and reach with his Maldivian counterpart an agreement on cooperation in the field of Islamic affairs and endowments.
The Cabinet appointed Prince Khaled bin Mishaal bin Saud administrative adviser at the Ministry of Interior; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Haqbani undersecretary at Tabuk Governorate; Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Fawzan minister plenipotentiary; Fahd bin Mohammed Khallaf minister plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Latifa bint Sulaiman Abu Nayan assistant undersecretary for family affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs; Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Muqbel administrative adviser at the Ministry of Social Affairs; and Rashed bin Mansour Al-Qasim director general of administrative and financial affairs at Control and Investigation Board.
