Princess Sarah bint Faisal bin Saud inaugurated the first “Khalijiat” (Gulf women) 2013 Exhibition, which showcases aspects of heritage, culture, brands, products, handmade products, handicraft and designers, at the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah on Saturday. The exhibition will run for three days.
Abeer Aref, head of the organizing committee at the exhibition, said this exhibition is a platform highlighting Gulf talent.
The exhibition has come to the Kingdom for the first time.
She said the exhibition, organized by the Pink Ribbon campaign with the cooperation of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Forum, aims to enhance the spirit of interdependence between the countries.
More than 120 businesswomen and companies from different parts of the Gulf are participating in the exhibition, which showcases different products made in the Gulf, designer clothes, perfumes, homemade products, makeup, shoes and creative, traditional and cultural items, in addition to various forms of entertainment.
“Our main aim is to promote Saudi women while giving the public a glance at the Gulf culture in its entirety. This is the biggest festival in Jeddah and is a new experience for women,” she said.
“We also involve productive families from the Faisaliah charitable organization in this exhibition to help them showcase their products and experience the market. Ramadan also gives a spiritual touch to tradition,” she added.
Ayman Abdel Meguid Pachauri, general manager for Princess Sara’s affairs, said their main aim was to promote Saudi women in the market.
Abdul Rahman, media coordinator, said that the exhibition is a great opportunity for women to introduce their products to market giants.
The exhibition is a women-only event and admission is free of charge. It is open after Isha prayers until 2 a.m.
