MTTS of Omar and Ricky Sedrome beat Tony’s Basketeers 76-66 in the Orient Watch-JBL basketball tournament at Bin Mafouz court on Tahlia Street, Al Andalus District here.
MTTS applied zone defense in the final quarter to halt Tony’s offensive plays. MTTS took care of the rebounds and converted its shots in the crucial minutes. Tadeo scored 18 points for MTTS and was adjudged as the Orient Watch best player of the game while Catalino led Tony’s with 25 points.
The tournament major sponsor is Orient Watch-Al Hussaini and Al Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al Hussaini). Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Flash Cargo (Arnold Dela Cruz), Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al Haddaf Sportswear (Mohamed Bayoumi) and Arab News are co-sponsors.
AVK Wild Boys of Jolly Tilo defeated Pinoy Jeddah Group 68-57. AVK Wild Boys played running game in second quarter. Pinoy Jeddah Group, a new team on the block, tried hard but could not get its offense going in the final quarter.
Gado top-scored with 14 points and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Trazo scored 21 points for Pinoy Jeddah Group.
Almabani of Vic Carreon beat Duduts Internet Cafe 86-71. It was a championship game atmosphere in the whole game as both teams brought their own cheering squads to boost team morale.
Almabani offense was unstoppable in the fourth quarter as Dudut’s Internet Café started to lose steam and missed important baskets.
Meting top-scored with 27 points for Almabani and was adjudged as the Saudi Sign best player of the game while Ricky Reloj led Dudut’s with 28 points.
Mr. Food Stuff of Manuel Cabansag and Ray Mangohig defeated Nimu 68-61.
Nimu was leading up to the third quarter. Mr. Food Stuff played wise offense and went to the open man for higher percentage offense. Nimu committed crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter.
Castillo and Soriano scored 19 points apiece for Mr. Food Stuff and were adjudged as the JBL best players of the game while Masapol had 14 points for Nimu.
Caltex of Joseph Hernandez beat Diet Center 78-65. Caltex played well in the second half of the game.
Diet Center had an off night to miss important shots in the crucial final quarter. Ricky Reloj led Caltex with 17 points and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Rudolf Arabia top-scored with 27 points for Diet Center.
