The Saudi National Campaign to help Syrian Refugees in conjunction with Save the Children is currently distributing more than 170,000 cans of sacrificial meat in the Zaatari Camp in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and under the supervision of Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif.
In a statement, Saad Al-Sowaid, director of the campaign’s office in Amman said the campaign began distributing the meat during the holy month of Ramadan.
“The sacrificial meat has been canned at a special factory prior to its distribution, according to the safety and hygienic standards stipulated by the UN organizations,” he said.
In a related development, a shipment of frozen meat including 7,500 heads of sacrificial cattle arrived to the seaport of Beirut on Thursday. The shipment will be distributed to 6,500 needy people within the Saudi Project for the Utilization of Sacrificial Meat managed by the Islamic Development Bank.
Within the framework of the IDB project, meat from more than 200,000 head of cattle will be distributed to 24 countries. The project is expected to benefit millions of poor across the world.
