Demise of an Indian journalist

The report that “Indian journalist Tahir Ansari dies at 64” (Aug. 4) is shocking. May Allah elevate the status of the departed soul in paradise and grant patience to the bereaved family in this sad time. Ansari’s association with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Press Trust of India (PTI) and the All India Radio, indicates that he was a professional. Few friends of mine knew him personally and according to them, he was a God-fearing and well-cultured person. In this diplomatic era, to call a spade a spade is not easy, especially to a journalist, but Ansari was fearless in revealing the truth in a professional manner. As a matter of fact, this is the hallmark of a good journalist. The report says, “The whole Indian community in Riyadh and those who worked with him are shocked to hear the news of his sudden death.” This indicates that he was very popular among the masses. Owing to his selfless services in the field of journalism, Ansari will be remembered for a long time. — Anees Lokhande, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia
