Shariah laws

This refers to the editorial “Sexual predators on the prowl” (Aug. 9). A Muslim society that strictly follows Shariah laws concerning hijab and segregation of sexes must not face the problem of sexual misbehavior. If it faces such a situation, then it only means that the Shariah laws are being violated in the society. There can be no smoke without fire. As a matter of fact today, such sexual misbehavior has risen to alarming levels in Muslim societies that openly violate the rules regarding hijab and segregation of the sexes. When unveiling of women and free mixing of the sexes in public places are allowed and encouraged in any society, it only makes women of that society vulnerable to sexual predators. Curbing such violations of the Islamic laws is the only way to prevent sexual misbehavior. — Anwar Hussain, by e-mail
