Thirteen countries will participate in the third Arab Stamp Exhibition organized by Saudi Post in collaboration with the Saudi Philatelic and Numismatic Society at the Rashid Mall in Madinah between Sept. 1 and 5.
The society aims to promote stamp collection as a hobby, promote research and studies on stamps and develop healthy competition among stamp collectors. The society also aims to evoke interest in stamp collection among students.
“We have three local exhibits annually. The first is for students in intermediate schools,” said Usamah Kurdi, chairman of the society, adding that he expects the exhibition to be held every two years. “The second is geared toward high school and college students and the third is for professionals and international Saudi collectors.”
The Society also participates in Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international exhibitions, the latest of which was held in Melbourne, Australia.
Kurdi said that three Saudi participants won gold and silver medals in that exhibition, adding that the society encourages fans of such a hobby to join. Some 3,000 members have joined the society so far.
Countries participating in the forthcoming exhibition include Egypt, Tunisia, Algiers, Morocco, Mauritania, Iraq, Palestine, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait.
