The Education Ministry has instructed all schools in the Kingdom to keep away from politics.
Education departments in the regions have been told that they should keep a watch on schools to make sure they do not get involved in any party politics.
Muhammad Al-Saheemi, a Saudi writer, emphasized the importance of the ministry’s warning and called for revising some of the textbooks.
“Some topics may be considered political or related to Islamic jurisprudence,” he said, stressing the need to make things clearer for an effective application of the new directive.
Authorities are questioning a mosque imam for discussing politics in a Friday sermon.
