Teachers denied salaries

Several Saudi teachers at a leading international school in Jeddah were reportedly not paid for three months during the vacation period. Some filed a complaint with Ministry of Labor on Thursday.
All seven plaintiffs are Saudi female teachers who have approached the Labor Office at the Jeddah Governorate saying it is unfair to deny them their salaries during the summer.
They also said school management is not paying their mandatory contribution to the Human Resource Development Fund on their behalf.
The women told Arab News that officials had already instructed school management to pay one month's salary and address the two remaining months as soon as possible. “We are satisfied with the Labor Ministry’s swift action on our complaint.” The teachers earn SR5,600 per month.
According to private school sources, all private international schools give paid leave during the summer season, which lasts around months. The payable period can vary from school to school. Private schools often complain about high salaries for Saudi teachers, which affect their profits.
