NASSAU, Bahamas: A man recently acquitted of raping a 12-year-old girl in a church bathroom has been fatally shot in the Bahamas.
Police say that 48-year-old church handyman Leroy Adderley was killed late Friday outside his home in the capital of Nassau.
Local media reported that residents in the area clapped and sang as authorities carried away Adderley’s body. No one has been arrested.
A jury voted 6-3 to acquit Adderley in mid-August, six years after he had been charged.
