A high-level delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Justice is in New Delhi, India, to attend an international conference on legal consultation. Issues such as commercial arbitration, corruption, piracy and sea laws, and the statehood of Palestine in international law will be the topics of focus.
The delegation, headed by Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Harity, is attending the four-day annual session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), which will conclude tomorrow.
Statistics of the Cairo-based International Center for Commercial Arbitration showed that Saudi Arabia had the highest number of arbitration cases in 2012, followed by Libya, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Lebanon and Qatar.
Reports said that 31 cases had been filed with the center during the first six months of this year, including one case in which the dispute amounted to $ 1 billion (SR 3.75 billion). A presentation was made at the conference on the deportation of Palestinians and the immigration and settlement of Jews in occupied territories.
The organization has successively been considering this topic from the international law perspective at annual sessions since 1989 and has examined the violation of international law committed by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people.
