Abraham, Tawfiq Class A champions in Jaguars Badminton Open

The superior offensive and defensive strategy of Tony Abraham and Mohammad Tawfiq of Smash Arabia proved too much for Vinu Raj and Arun Paul of Jeddah Shuttles Best as they won in straight sets to claim the championship title in the Men’s Class A Division in the recent Jaguars Badminton Open 2013 Tournament at the Olympia Sports Center badminton courts here.
It was a classic showdown between the remaining unbeaten teams as they traded straight and cross-court clear shots, drives, smashes, drop shots and defensive stops that wowed the special guests, tournament participants and the badminton crowd. Both champions and runners-up received trophies and gift vouchers from Sarawat Superstores, the main sponsor of the tournament organized by the Jaguars Badminton Club. Special gifts were also raffled to lucky players during the final day.
A highlight of the awarding was the presentation of Sportsmanship Award to Richard Flores in Men’s Division and Danielle Ann Eugenio in Ladies’ Division.
The final ceremony was attended by Aiman Kattouha, general manager of Multi Stage Trading Co. Ltd., and Kamal Albasheer of Dar Al Wessal Mktg Co., tournament sponsors. Jaguars Chairman Gerry Rabang once again expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the major sponsor, Sarawat Superstores, and minor sponsors Dar Al Wessal Marketing Company, Solafah Trading Company, Ltd., Exposure Advertising Promotions Events Management, MultiStage Trading Co. Ltd., Alesayi Motors, Bupa Arabia, McDonald’s and Sportstrack. He also thanked Olympia Sports Center, all participating clubs and his co-Jaguars for the support extended during the tourney.
