Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has strongly criticized traders for hiking prices of essential commodities without any reason and said such greedy people were committing a big injustice to society.
“A society may face injustice from different parties including those who increase prices without any genuine reason; they cooperate with one another in doing injustice to society,” the mufti said.
Delivering his Friday sermon at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, he also lambasted government officials for delaying paper work for citizens and residents and taking bribes from them.
The mufti also warned those who try to create division within Saudi society by publishing articles and comments in newspapers and other media.
In this respect, Al-Asheikh cited the publication of articles with the intent of creating suspicions about Islamic scholars, political and intellectual leaders and basic Islamic teachings.
“Our society is badly in need of unity on the basis of Islamic faith and a strong relationship between the Saudi rulers and the people,” the mufti said.
“Any thought or idea that is mooted to weaken this unity shows the bad intention of those who wrote them,” the mufti said, urging Saudis to stand united to protect their faith.
He also advised the faithful to take care of their elderly parents and treat their children equally.
