The General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) and the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), with the support of Central Bank of Bahrain, Sunday announced the lineup of key speakers to address the upcoming Professional Liability Insurance Forum.
The two-day forum will be taking place in the Kingdom between Oct. 21-22 at the Ritz Carlton, Bahrain. The forum will be the first of its kind for the region and is expected to attract more than 300 leading GCC and GAIF members and MENA and South African counters based insurers, industry and corporate players. The speakers offer a diverse range of topics for delegates to debate, discuss and learn about.
The keynote speakers are Abdul Rahman Al-Baker, executive director (Central Bank of Bahrain); Abdul Khaleq Rouf, general secretary (General Arab Insurance Federation); Younis J. Al-Sayed, chairman (Bahrain Insurance Association) and Adnan Yousif, chairman (Union of Arab Banks).
Yousif will be joining Alexander Blom, financial line manager (AIG), and Scott Davies, FINPRO senior client executive, (Marsh MENA) in the session about directors and officers, bankers blanket bonds and professional liability.
Political Violence across the Arab world has been a controversial topic in recent years will also be addressed by a panel consisting of Mike C. Barnes, regional director, MENA — McLarens; Mowafeq Hassan Ridha, adviser (technical and legal affairs); Christopher M. Kirby, political violence underwriter, International General Insurance Company; and Alaa El Zoheiry, MD, Arab Misr Insurance Group.
The forum will also shed lights on professional indemnity, which is a way of protection against a negligence claim made by a client and medical malpractice, which is protection in the medical community against death or injuries. The topics will be led by Mohammed Abdulwahab, senior consultant, Noor Specialist Hospital; Urs Baumeister, director, Swiss Re; and Bahaa Eldin Fateha, CEO, National Health Regulatory Authority.
The forum will also examine issues such as how to develop the market place for liability Insurance and how to manage the need for it in the region. It will also focus on building awareness of the value of liability insurance and its products. This has become increasingly important with more and more organizations across the MENA markets seeking to offset the potential liabilities resulting from negligent activities of employees, directors and officers.
This is an increasingly important area of risk management for any industry and the event will serve to educate participants on how best to develop, offer and utilize the right protection solutions and strategies.
