Health insurance provider Bupa Arabia’s social media pages on Facebook and Twitter have been ranked top in the Kingdom in the insurance and health sectors in terms of fan base and engagement rates.
The number of fans of Bupa Arabia’s Facebook page hit the 100,000 mark in only six months, while followers on Twitter number 35,000.
“We were one of the first companies in Saudi Arabia to recognize the value of social media as a way to communicate with and stay close to our customers and our success in achieving number one ranking in our field is due to our excellent community management and the quality of the content on our pages,” said Ali Sheneamer, COO, Bupa Arabia.
“As a service provider, many of Bupa’s social assets are used to support our customers and our social media pages provide an ideal platform with ample space for customers to air their views and discuss their problems, and for Bupa Arabia to actively help resolve their issues,” he added.
The content receiving most engagement on Bupa Arabia’s social media pages concerns basic medical knowledge, with posts tackling important issues in Saudi Arabia such as obesity, diabetes and smoking.
The health care content and tips offered frequently lead to long threads with varying degrees of engagement ranging from simple direct questions to elaborate conversations.
Inquiries about new and existing products are also frequent topics, while during Ramadan religious advice attracts an increasing amount of engagement.
“Bupa social media is open to anyone who has a question to ask about a health issue or enquire about our products and services,” Sheneamer said.
