Lisondra scores 34 points to lead JACO1 past Petromin B

Silent achiever Ely Lisondra scored 34 points in a strong performance to lift JACO1 to a 105-91 victory over Petromin B during the second week of action in the E. A. Juffali & Brothers 9th Basketball League at the Juffali Staff Compound basketball court on Khurais road here.
Inspired by the presence of team manager Shane Loterring, JACO1 had the tandem of team captain Lisondra and playing coach JR Gragasin along with Marvin Naguit, Nilo Martinez and Larry “Otoy” Pergis running roughshod over the Petromin B bannered by Chris Camana, Xyre Mira, Jerry Gerolao, Rolly Ortega and Leo Alvarez. Camana’s 16 points during the initial quarter helped Petromin B take the driver’s seat at 27-21. JACO1 boys tightened their defense and dominated the match the rest of the way.
New entrant Al Ayuni and Al Jomaih 1 of Abdallah Al Horrani gave it their best shot to delight the spectators in the game that ended 85-84 in favor of Al Jomaih 1. Alexander Alabado, Ian Torres and Gilbert Borlongan led Ayni’s stats sheet with Mark Cuenca and Ryan Bayani supporting. The teams closed the first quarter tied at 21 and the game entered halftime at 46-43 score in favor of Al Jomaih 1. With 1:13 time remaining, Torres was fouled but missed the two free-throw shots. The tight defense applied by Al Jomaih 1 cagers blocked Jaycen Jallal’s attempt to convert a lay-up shot and it Al Jomaih 1 took control to preserve the victory.
Al Jomaih 2 team of Peter Gallobo and Nick Lamug scored their first win routing RGTS 2 98-67. Oliver Sambilay along with Oliver Tripoli, Alvin Santorse, and Saben Deriposun combined for seven converted 3-point shots in this match. RGTS 2 was in the game only in the opening quarter that ended 16-16 all as Al Jomaih 2 asserted itself in the last three quarters.
In other matches, United Motors scored its second win at the expense of BMW 66-52; Al Hokair of coach Zaldy Datu won a roller coaster game against Ericsson 110-98 to recover from an opening day defeat; Petromin A got its second win after beating Drake & Scull 102-73 and Al Jazeera Ford defeated RGTS1 93-66.
