Green is in as the countdown begins for the Saudi National Day.
Major roads in the Saudi capital have undergone a “green makeover,” with lights and poles proudly bearing the Saudi flag. Saudi schools are also gearing up for the occasion.
Khurais Road is one of the main thoroughfares that has been “invaded” by numerous flags fluttering in the air. A motorist who regularly passes by the road told Arab News that he was confused at first why Saudi flags were displayed.
“There were no flags the last time I passed by here. So, I was puzzled by the number of Saudi flags on both sides of the road,” he said.
He added: “It then crossed my mind that Saudi National day is fast approaching.”
Another area that catches the eye is the upmarket Tahalia Street where Saudi and international schools are located. Eduard, a motorist who frequently passes by the street, said he did not notice the flags along Tahalia but knew that the Saudi National Day is coming.
“I did not notice the flags in Tahalia but I know that preparations are under way for the Saudi National Day since I read it in the newspapers,” he told Arab News.
International schools are also preparing for the event with students lining up various activities that befit the occasion which is considered a red-letter day indeed!
“We will celebrate Saudi National day on Sept. 24. The activities will include children wearing traditional Saudi attires and other Saudi-related events,” a teacher from Tiny Tots International school told Arab News.
Meanwhile, sources from Al-Habib, King Fahd Medical City and King Faisal Hospital said that the medical institutions will function normally during the long weekend.
