JEDDAH: Reel & Rom will clash with Butt Sports in the final of the JCA Morning League after both won their semifinal matches here recently.
Reel & Rom worked hard for their 3-wicket win over MHA while Butt Sports defeated Al Khulais by 24 runs.
MHA were put into bat and totaled 157 for 8. Irfan dealt 3 deadly blows in the second over of the match, which MHA never recovered. Irfan dismissed Shad, Atta and Yousuf and later went on to take another wicket. Abdul Ghafoor and Zakir played sensibly and steered their team out of trouble. Abdul Ghafoor scored 39 off 24 balls while Zakir who was the more dominant went on to make a superb 79 runs off 53 balls.
Reel and Rom gave away 23 runs in the form of extras.
Irfan claimed 4 for 17 runs, Qasim 2 for 33 and Samer 1 for 32.
In reply Reel & Rom got off to a bad start and lost early wickets of Nisar and Irfan. Thereafter Waheed and Samer steadied the innings initially and later went on the offensive. Waleed scored 42 while Samer contributed 48. Rasheed chipped in with a cameo 23 runs.
Reel & Rom achieved their target for the loss of 7 wickets.
In the other semifinal, Butt Sports put up 224 runs in their allotted overs and restricted Al Khulais to 200 runs. Butt Sports lost 2 early wickets of Zeeshan and Waqas. However, opener Umar (20) and Junaid (24) played good knocks to enable their team to recover from the early shocks. Later, Atif and Javed set up a superb partnership to ensure their team put up a fighting total. Atif was the more aggressive and scored a quick-fire 75 runs off 33 balls while Javed played second fiddle and scored 51, which enabled Butt Sports reach 224.
Al Khulais started on a positive note as Zahoor (58) and Aslam (45) put up 108 runs for the opening wicket off just 9 overs.
However, the other failed to take advantage by the good work done by the openers and as a result lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 200 runs. Atif after his superb batting performance also shone with the ball with a perfect line and length to reap a rich harvest of 4 for 24 runs. Abdul Rahman Mani gave him good support and claimed 3 for 30.
