Dirab Golf & Country Club hosts back-to-back major events starting with the Almarai Saudi National Day Golf Tournament on Saturday.
After the annual Almarai-sponsored National Day event the American Express Dirab Golf Championship, the fourth leg of the MENA Golf Tour, is up next on the schedule.
The American Express tournament week starts with a practice round on Sunday before the 54-hole competition gets going with the first round on Monday. Professional and amateur golfers in the region are expected to come down to Riyadh to participate in the event where prizes totaling $50,000 will be at stake.
This is the second straight year Dirab gets to host a tournament on the 10-leg MENA Tour which culminates with the Tour Championship presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club with prize money of $75,000.
Saturday’s tournament is a two-ball Texas Scramble format competition that attracted 116 players. Prizes are scaled down to the fifth place.
Players will receive goody bags at the registration booth before the shotgun start at 7 a.m.
