Khalid, Wilson Premier Flight champs in Federation Cup Invitational doubles tourney

The 17th Federation Cup Invitational doubles badminton tournament organized by Badminton Federation in collaboration with Rastanura Badminton Group Aramco successfully ended last Friday with the team of Fahad Khalid and Renin Wilson winning the men’s Premier Flight title at Najma & Radhwa indoor courts in Aramco Rastanura.
Over 450 players from Riyadh , Eastern Province and Bahrain competed in this mega event. Tournament was conducted for 8 levels of players from beginners to professional players in the men's event, 5 levels in ladies event and 6 levels in mixed event.
The matches rose to the levels higher than the expectations and maintained very good standard. Players of various nationalities from India, Philippine, Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada , US, China and Pakistan took part in the two days event.
In the men’s Premier Flight, Fahad Khalid and Renin Wilson were declared winners to receive the coveted trophies after the Bahraini pair of Suneet Sebastian and Togy Mathew conceded the match due to an unexpected injury during the first game.
In the men’s Championship Flight, Mohd. Aslam and Abdul Rahim K. edged out Shafik J.S. and MK Ahmed Mohiuddin.
In the mixed doubles championship final, Koh Liang Pheng and Shan Osorio beat Vincent Roy Garing and Erika Martizana in a well fought match.
BFSA President George PuthenMadhom congratulated all the winners and runners up and thanked the sponsors for their support for this major tournament.
Buainain Abdulaziz M., recreation services advisor of Aramco Rastanura, facilitated the venue for this mega event. The president of RTBG, Suresh Lakshmanan, and Vice President Mohd. Afzal Langah along with their office bearers helped make the BFSA-RTBG tournament a grand success.
Trophies to the winners and runners up were awarded by the major sponsors.
The major sponsors of Badminton Federation for the year 2012-2013 were Sinmar Group, Delmon, Hempel, Eram Group, BASF Saudi Arabia, Ajab Faleh Al Qatani, Tamimi Industrial Services, Dadabhai-Optima Trading, MGA Trading and Azmeel Travel Agency.
The trophies for the winners and runners up were presented by the major sponsors and BFSA executive council members.
