Two new assistant labor attaches have arrived to beef up the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh (POLO-Riyadh), according to the Philippine Embassy.
Jaybee John Vincent Villarin Baginda and Firma Peque Bantillan arrived recently to provide services for Filipinos in Riyadh and the central region.
They arrived ahead of Resty de la Fuente, the new POLO-Riyadh labor attache who replaces former labor attache Antonio Villafuerte, who had been recalled because of alleged sexual misconduct.
Earlier, Labor Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz announced that new officials at POLO-Riyadh would be “gender sensitive.”
Baginda has expertise in labor management, industrial relations and human resources. He holds a master’s degree in industrial relations from the University of the Philippines (UP).
He was previously a technical administrative staff member in Rome from 2008 to 2012 and held various positions at the Institute of Labor Studies from 1999 to 2004.
Bantillan joined the National Conciliation and Mediation Board in 1995, then transferred to the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) where she spent eight years in various positions. During her NLRC stint, she was posted to POLO-Singapore as an administrative staff member.
