Four young men have been sentenced to a combined 23 years in jail, lashes and fines for filming one of them naked in public and posting the video on social networking sites.
The head judge of Buraidah's criminal court, Ali Al-Omar, ruled that the four were guilty of moral turpitude.
The incident took place last winter when the four drove to a desert area in Buraidah in a jeep. One of the young men stripped and sat on top of the jeep while another filmed him. Al-Qassim police identified the men after an investigation.
The first defendant was sentenced to 10 years in prison, 2,000 lashes, a fine of SR50,000 and had to sign a pledge not to repeat the offense. The second defendant was sentenced to seven years, 1,200 lashes and had his car confiscated. The third and fourth defendants were sentenced each to three years and 500 lashes. The judge granted them leave to appeal.
