New diagnoses for genetic diseases highlighted

A major genetic diseases conference kicked off here with 15 local and international speakers highlighting the latest diagnostic technology.
Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Shaibani, chief executive officer of King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam, said the Kingdom has the world's highest rate of genetic diseases because of marriages among close family members.
The conference included eight workshops over two days, and was held under the patronage of Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, minister of health.
