The Area 7 of Toastmasters Clubs conducted its annual speech conference in Jeddah recently, where Division G governor, DTM Saifudheen, urged participants to dream big.
DTM Abdullah Filimban of Saudi Aramco, who was behind the formation of many Toastmasters clubs in the western region, gave an inspiring speech. “If you have the perseverance to pursue your passion, no one can hinder your progress,” he said.
Mauricia Garcia of Council Toastmasters Club stole the show with her spellbinding speech, which won her first place in the international speech contest.
Khaled Baharetha secured second place, while Cijo Mathew came third.
The first place winner in the humorous speech segment was Qaisar Javaid of Green Toastmasters Club. Karthikeyan Nagarajan and Atique Shirazi secured the second and third places respectively.
In the table topics competition, Cijo Mathew of the ALJ Toastmasters Club won first place for his performance, while Atique Shirazi and Sam Asim came second and third place.
In the speech evaluation category, Rayan Mohtasib of Eagle Club came first place and Muhammed Kunhi and Atique Shirazi won second and third places respectively.
The target speaker was master Ammar Ilyas, a student of Sri Lankan International School-Jeddah who mesmerized the audience by his style of delivery and deft command of the language.
The first and second place winners in all four categories will represent area seven in the division G contest, scheduled for March 14 in Jeddah.
Taher Afzal Subhan, the area seven governor, gave an introductory speech.
Mohammed Haneef was the contest chair, while Robert Perez Jr. led the show. Mosleh Al-Emrani, assistant area seven governor, gave a vote of thanks.
