Dubai trade mission seeks joint cooperation with Hamburg

A strong Dubai trade mission will seek the possibilities of joint cooperation with Hamburg in the areas of green cities, maritime, logistics and tourism.
The discussion will start on Tuesday at the three-day Dubai Hamburg Business Forum, which is being held in Hamburg.
The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is one of Germany’s strongest economic regions and a central trading hub for Northern Europe.
“The main objective of this trade mission is to enhance and consolidate cooperation ties between the business communities of Dubai and Hamburg, which are both strategic cities in their respective regions,” said Hisham Al-Shirawi, second vice chairman of Dubai Chamber, who leads the Dubai trade mission to Hamburg.
“It is through our joint efforts that we have seen this forum develop into a major strategic partnership over the past seven years. Today, we look forward to a forum that is both relevant and valuable for our private sectors,’’ Al-Shirawi said, adding that during the forum we will focus on the four strategic economic sectors that are drivers of our respective cities.
The topics of panel discussions hold potential for two-way cooperation and investment in the areas of green cities, maritime, logistics and tourism, which is very important as Dubai’s status of a leading destination will be reinforced significantly with the event of Expo 2020 and will also create additional scope for Dubai’s existing partnership with Hamburg, Al-Shirawi.
The Dubai delegates will also be meeting top officials of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and major German businessmen, including Fritz Horst Melsheimer, president, and Professor Hans-Jorg Schmidt-Trenz, CEO, Hamburg Chamber.
The Dubai delegation includes Hamad Buamim, president and CEO of Dubai Chamber, and top officials from different government departments.
The Dubai delegates participating in the panel discussion on Green Cities ‘Sustainable Growth through Smart Technology’ include Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO, Empower, Heinrich Klingenberg, MD, hySolutions GmBH, and Markus Echt, vice-president E.ON Hanse AG.
