Three children died in a fire that engulfed a makeshift house in Dahban, north of Jeddah, the Civil Defense Department said.
“The fire broke out in an old house from which we retrieved three bodies,” said the department without giving details.
In a related development, the car of a student in Najran caught fire on Tuesday while it was inside the technical college compound, police said.
Other students helped to quell the fire using extinguishers inside their cars, sabq.org reported, adding that the fire had also spread to nearby cars.
The college’s administration had taken measures to stop the fire, the electronic newspaper said. “The students were able to extinguish the fire before the arrival of civil defense firefighters,” it added.
