JEDDAH: Al-Noor Medical Center YCC got the better of Badar Al-Tamam United Sports Club 2-1 to enter the Division ‘B’ championship final, organized by the Saudi Indian Football Forum at the Education Ministry Stadium, Faisaliyah District, here
United have themselves to blame for this defeat as they dominated proceedings throughout but failed to convert their superiority into goals.
YCC midfielder Hakeem gave his team the lead against the run of play when he converted a 25-yard free kick. Hakeem, later judged the Man-of-the-Match, doubled the lead through a controversial spot kick.
United did not give up and reduced the margin three minutes before time through Arshad.
Sameer Badwilan (Saudi Youth Welfare), Abdulla Mushabab (Ground Authority), Hassan Koya (Malayalam News), Manzoor Ferook (Talal int’l School), Kismath, Mammad Ponnani and Haris Nageri were introduced to the players.
In the Inter-School semifinal, Indonesian International School eased past Delhi Public School 4-1 and will take on International Indian School Jeddah in the final for the Al-Abeer Trophy.
The Indonesians played fast positional football and dominated their rivals in all departments of the game. Iffanga netted twice while Husni and Saad scored for winners while Fawad reduced the margin for DPS. Man-of-the-Match award went to Husni.
Pappatta Kunhi Mohammed and Hamsa Alungal were introduced to the players.
In the first match of the veteran’s football league (above 40 years), President’s XI and Treasurer’s XI ended 1-1.
Najmudheen gave the President’s the lead, which was neutralized by Rasheed for the Treasurers. Najmudheen adjudged player of the match.
In the second match of the same section, Mayas Optical Secretary XI Naser Santapuram trounced Sudheer’s Gen Captain’s XI 3-0. Abdul Latheef scored a hat trick. Abdul Latheef was Man-of-the-Match.
