778 kg of rotten food destroyed

The Dhahran Municipality destroyed 778 kg of rotten food and closed 21 restaurants during raids this week.
The inspectors fined the violators SR206,000. The municipality had received more than 58 complaints from consumers.
Saleh bin Muhammad Al-Qarni, the mayor of Dhahran, said the municipality carried out 1,180 visits during the campaign.
He said 21 restaurants were shut down, 740 violation notices issued and 190 violations registered.
The mayor said the municipality wants to ensure that restaurants comply with safety regulations to protect the health of consumers.
Al-Qarni urged consumers to report any health violations on the emergency number 940, or on the municipality’s website www.eamana.gov.sa.
