Field teams in Baha have seized an estimated 500 kg of spoiled and rotten food items that are unfit for human consumption, local media said quoting officials.
Seized food products included 150 kg of cheese, 70 kg of pastries and pies, 50 kg of fruit and vegetables, 50 kg of dates, 30 kg of canned foods and 120 kg of meat and fish, said municipality spokesman Khidir Al-Hamrani.
Field inspection teams at the Riyadh Municipality have closed down more than 20 food firms and restaurants for health violations, according to local media sources.
The inspection teams immediately banned 40 workers from work for absence of heath certificates and non-commitment to wearing uniform articles of clothing, include jackets, gloves and head caps.
The teams also confiscated 300 kg of rotten, expired and unknown sourced food items, including meat, fish, poultry produce unfit for human consumption, sources said.
