I think that Indian Muslims should accept the fact that Narendra Modi has been overwhelmingly elected by the masses. It is time for them to plan a strategy to deal with the upcoming government known for its anti-Muslim stance. I failed to see any impact of Muslim voters on the Indian political landscape. The huge popularity of the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should serve as a wake-up call to the Indian Muslims who stand divided. Somehow I feel that the two-nation theory that was purportedly “drowned in the Arabian Sea” by then Congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has been fished out by the BJP. One thing is evident that India stands divided on communal lines. People have wholeheartedly embraced a party whose anti-Muslim agenda is not hidden. Muslim leaders in India should convene a conference to reflect on this issue and devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with the changed scenario.
